Our firm has being involved in challenges against the Social Welfare Department since 2005 and will continue to represent clients as such similar matters arise. The linked video highlights the social welfare problems which asylum seekers in Hong Kong face on a daily basis. As the opening quotes of the video portray: 'In Hong Kong, one of the world's most expensive cities, refugees are expected to survive with periodic food handouts and a minimal $150 rent subsidy; and 'Refugees are not allowed to work, leaving people in a jobless limbo. Here on the border of mainland China, they struggle to get by.'
